Vous trouverez ci-dessous une présentation de notre activité principalement centrée sur notre important projet de rénovation de la bergerie Mandochenekoborda à Larressore (voir Pin N° 91 sur notre carte interactive) qui pourra se développer grâce au soutien financier de nombreux donateurs au profit de notre association.
Très touchés par ces différentes initiatives et démarches de nos adhérents, tous les membres de notre Conseil d’Administration vous remercient chaleureusement.

Un don exceptionnel d’une famille de Larressore.
La bergerie Mandochenekoborda
Tous les deux ans notre marche se déroule sur
le passage dit de l’intérieur comme entre 1943 et 1944. Par Anglet - Ustaritz - Larressore - Espelette - Urdax bergerie Jauregikoborda et Maya del Baztan en Navarre.
A chaque commémoration, au Pont du Diable à Larressore, la bergerie Mandochenekoborda est à l’honneur. Entre 1943 - 1944 dans cette bergerie 4 jeunes d’Espelette membres du réseau (Pierre et Jean - Baptiste Aguerre de la ferme Burruntxalinea, Pierre Etchegoyen de la ferme Chodieteya et Jean Elizondo de la ferme Dolagakoborda) et 3 jeunes de Souraïde (Michel et Coche Mari Etcheveste et Juanito Bidegain) vont y cacher 111 aviateurs alliés et 17 civils. Nous avons pu identifier tous les évadés qui sont passés par cette bergerie.

Tous rejoindront Londres sans incident pour reprendre le combat.
Pour nous remercier de toutes nos recherches la famille propriétaire nous fait don de cette bergerie avec ses 6000 m2 de terrain pour réaliser un lieu de Mémoire de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale au service des générations futures.
Un Comité de pilotage, sous la direction de Monsieur Le Sous Préfet et de Madame Le Maire de Larressore, s’est déjà mis au travail.
Ce projet (joint en pièce jointe) a été récompensé en 2024, par l’attribution à notre association du Label Débarquements-Libération-Victoire pour la Nouvelle Aquitaine.
La situation à ce jour
Le terrain agricole attenant est dans une zone AOC Piment d’Espelette. Un géomètre expert requis par nos soins pour un nouveau bornage a rendu son rapport à la notaire.
Consultée la SAFER a donné son feu vert. Reste désormais la délibération du Conseil Municipal de Larressore, validant l’accès à la bergerie prévu en séance le 20 février.
Début mars signature de l’acte chez la notaire Maritxu Jauregui à Bayonne.

Hello,
We are very grateful to you for joining our association. You will find below an update of our current activity that is focused on our major project; namely, the renovation of the sheep barn at Larressore known as Mandocheneko borda (see Pin no 91 on our interactive map). It was the last 'safe' house in France prior to the evaders tackling the mountain crossing into Spain.
In addition to the financial support that has been earmarked from official sources, we hope to broaden the base of support by seeking donations from private individuals. It is the aim of our association to develop the site as a place of memory for future generations. In so doing, it will be the only Comète 'safe' house in Europe that will be open to the public.
Our management team wishes to thank our members warmly for all the different initiatives and actions.
The aim of the Mandochenekoborda project at Larressore:
to ensure that the story of the Comète Line will never be forgotten.
Thanks to an exceptional donation from a family from Larressore, we have taken on this challenging project.
Mandocheneko borda
Every two years our walk takes place on the so-called inland route as between 1943 and 1944. By Anglet - Ustaritz - Larressore - Espelette - Urdax Jauregikoborda sheepfold and Maya del Baztan in Navarre. At every Comète commemoration held at Larressore, the importance of the Mandochenekoborda sheep barn is highlighted. Four young men from Espelette and three from Souraïde - all members of the network - sheltered a total of 111 Allied airmen and 17 French/Belgian agents in this sheep barn from mid-1943 to June 1944. The four from Espelette were: Pierre and Jean-Baptiste Aguerre from Burruntxalinea farm; Pierre Etchegoyen from Chodieteya farm and Jean Elizondo from Dolagakoborda farm - and the three from Souraïde were Michel et Coche Mari Etcheveste et Juanito Bidegain. We have been able to identify all 111 aviators and the 17 other evaders who passed through Mandocheneko borda.

All were returned to London without incident to resume the fight.
In recognition of our work in documenting the previously unrecorded inland route, by way of a 'thank you', the owners decided to donate the sheep barn with its 6,000 m2 of land to create a place of remembrance for Comète and of the Second World War for future generations.
A steering committee has already started work, led by Mr. Le Sous Préfet and Mrs. Le Maire de Larressore.
Our project has been awarded the Landings-Liberation-Victory Label for New Aquitaine.
The situation as it stands
The adjoining agricultural land is in an AOC Piment d'Espelette zone. A surveyor expert requested by us for a new boundary has submitted his report to the notary.
Following consulations, the SAFER gave us the green light. All that remains now is a decision from the Municipal Council of Larressore validating access to the sheep barn. This is expected in late February.
Early March signing of the deed at the notary Maritxu Jauregui in Bayonne.
